Photocells are solid-state devices that convert light into electrical energy by producing voltage. Photocells typically utilize a cadmium sulphide cell as the means of converting light to energy. Photocells are commonly referred to as Photosensors, Photocontrols, Photovoltaic Cells, Photoconductive Cells, Photoresistors, Electric Eyes, Photoelectric Cells and Photoelectric Sensors.
